"Opera" is an exceptional and rare custom-made marble fireplace mantel. It is in the Napoleon III style and has a gilded bronze decor.
Two putti figurines carved in the round and made out of gilded bronze decorate the jambs of this fireplace mantel. They support a beautiful drapery made of marble and carved in high relief. The drapery features gilded bronze decorative elements in the center.
The carving quality is exceptionally rare and can be seen in the realistic reproduction of the folds in the drapery,and in the superb chisseling of the bronze elements.
